About the beads

GEMS

The gemstones I use are naturally varying in color. For example, one strand of natural Aquamarine stones will come with varying colors and opacity and some might be 'greener' than blue. This is what I like and embrace when designing. I use AA or AAA rated semi-precious gems from trusted sources.

Each bracelet is handmade and variations inclusions in the stones are naturally occurring and part of the art.

Please note each computer monitor is different therefore color may look a little different in person than on a computer screen.

GOLD

The gold beads I use are 14K gold filled unless otherwise noted. This means the bead is manufactured to consist of at least 5% solid gold by weight. They are created by bonding a thick layer of 14kt gold to another metal such as copper or brass which gives them longevity. This is different than gold plated in which a thin layer of gold is deposited over a less precious metal. I do use some 14k gold plated beads (the lotus flower is my favorite) which is noted in the product descriptions. With the proper care, gold plated beads should last for some time and will naturally fade or tarnish over time.

Gold Filled beads will wear longer, not tarnish and contain more gold than gold plated. They are also a good choice for those with allergies to metals as they create a thicker layer of gold between you and the base metal.

GLASS

The friendship bracelets are made of glass beads with acrylic focal beads and a 14k gold plated accent bead.
